COVID-19 Update from Fr. Stanger March 14, 2020 Please read carefully • As many have heard, Catholics in the Archdiocese of St. Louis are dispensed from Sunday Eucharist for the weekends of March 14-15, March 21-22, March 28-29. Our Mass Schedule at Holy Infant will remain unchanged, nonetheless. Masses will be at our regularly scheduled times: Saturday 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday 7:00 a.m. 8:30 a.m. 10:15 a.m. and 12 noon. I remind everyone in our parish family to exercise good judgement and keep Sunday, the Lord’s Day, a holy day. • For those who are making a decision to be absent from worship during these times, please be mindful that you can view the Celebration of Eucharist on the cable network EWTN, the Catholic Faith Network, and catholictv.org. • If you are viewing the Celebration of Eucharist remotely, please be aware of the long-standing practice of making what is called a Spiritual Communion — the desiring of union with Jesus and uniting ourselves to Him through prayer when we cannot receive Him sacramentally. Here is a prayer for your use: “My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.” • Holy Communion will be distributed only under the Species of the consecrated Host. • Anyone who is in any way sick at all is urged to stay home from any and all parish activities. • The Greeting of Peace prior to Communion has been suspended until future notice. • All scheduled baptisms and weddings at Holy Infant will go on as scheduled. Christian Burial will always be provided; however, depending on the ongoing directives from the St. Louis County Government and the Health Department it may be necessary to limit the size and scope of the funeral rites. • All who celebrate the Sacrament of Penance are encouraged to do so anonymously (behind the screen) in order to ensure the maintaining of social distancing between persons. • Decisions regarding the functioning of our school and the ongoing education of our children will be made as directives come from the St. Louis County Government, the Department of Health, the State of Missouri and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. • All CYC related activities are suspended through 3/31/2020 including practices. • At this time, pending the fact that new developments are coming nearly every couple of hours, our weekly Friday Fish Fry will from now on be carry-out only. • All decisions regarding any other type of parish activity, gathering, meeting, organizational activity, etc. will be made on a case by case basis as we follow any upcoming gathering directives from the St. Louis County Government and the Department of Health. • As any new developments emerge regarding the coronavirus, I will share information with you about how we will continue to operate safely and effectively at Holy Infant. • Let us continue to support one another during these challenging and unprecedented times. If we can be of any assistance to you personally, please feel free to contact us at the parish office. We are here to serve. God’s blessings to you and your family! Fr. Ed Stanger
