COACHING REQUIREMENTS
There are a number of requirements to coach within any parish organization. These are mandated by the CYC and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Each of these requirements must be fulfilled and approved BEFORE you can have your first team practice. BOTH HEAD AND ASSISTANT COACHES MUST COMPLETE ALL REQUIREMENTS. Click on the blue links below for a current schedule of classes and additional program information.
Prevent and Protect
Coaches, assistant coaches and parent-helpers need to attend this program. The national sexual-abuse prevention program “Protecting God’s Children” was adopted by the Archdiocese of St. Louis in November 2002. Prevent and Protect was introduced in 2019. All archdiocesan employees and volunteers who work with children on a regular basis are mandated to complete the program.
Complete the Appropriate Coach Training Program
This “Volunteer Youth Coaches’ Training Program” is offered online by the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This program provides practical, everyday assistance with understanding the physical and mental development age of your team and providing a positive learning environment for all involved. The program provides pre- and post- season checklists and other essential information to get your volunteer coaching effort off on the right start.
